Golder played both baseball and basketball at Bloomsburg and was considered one of the school's most outstanding all-around athletes and one of its finest basketball players. During his career on the basketball team, Golder helped the Huskies to a record of 43-13, including a 12-1 mark in the 1930-31 season. After graduation, Golder became a successful basketball coach at Bloomsburg High School, winning 10 league titles and four District Four championships. At one point, his teams won 40 straight games over a three-year period. Golder also started the baseball program at Bloomsburg High School and Little League baseball in Bloomsburg in the late 1940s.
