An outstanding wrestler, Caravella posted a career record of 112-28-2, 6th on Bloomsburg's all-time list. He won an Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) title during his senior year after finishing second the two previous years. He was a three-time PSAC champion and a three-time qualifier for the NCAA championships. As a senior in 1979-80, he earned All-American status and placed 7th in the NCAA championships. He also won the Wilkes Open and University of Delaware Invitational during his career. He was inducted into the EWL Hall of Fame in 2004.
