BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Bloomsburg wrestling earned four individual victories, including bonus-point efforts from
Jace Schafer (Fairport, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) and
Mason Rebuck (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy), but the Huskies fell 21–14 to visiting Buffalo on Friday evening inside Nelson Field House.
Schafer set the tone at 125 pounds with one of the most commanding performances of the night. The graduate student attacked from the opening whistle and never relented, piling up takedowns in every period on his way to a 15-2 major decision over Caden Barrientos. His dominant win gave the Huskies an early 4-0 lead and immediate momentum.
Buffalo answered with three straight decisions before
William Morrow (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) halted the run with a hard-fought victory at 157. Morrow used an early takedown and a key third-period escape to outlast Max Nevlin, securing a 5-3 decision that pulled the Huskies back within striking distance.
Bloomsburg continued to chip away at the deficit at 174 pounds, where
Eric Alderfer (Harleysville, Pa./Faith Christian) delivered one of the dual's most competitive bouts. Alderfer and Buffalo's Rafael Knapp traded escapes and scrambles throughout the match, but Alderfer produced the go-ahead takedown in the final period and held position late to secure a 6-5 decision, bringing Bloomsburg to within 15-9.
The Huskies closed the night with their second bonus-point performance as heavyweight
Mason Rebuck (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) dominated in a 17-2 tech fall over Jack MacDonald at the seven-minute mark. Rebuck controlled every position, scoring takedowns in bunches to finish the dual with Bloomsburg's most explosive effort.
Despite the strong finish, Buffalo's mid-dual victories provided just enough separation to hold off the Huskies' comeback.
