Junior Matthew Hart broke a seven-year-old school record over the weekend as he competed in a pair of throwing events at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Indoor Classic. On day one of competition, Hart posted a mark of 17.30 meters in the weight throw to establish a new indoor school record in the event. His throw was 15-hundredths of a meter further than the previous record of 17.15 set by Jack Rosenstein in 2013. Hart's mark was the fifth-best in the event. He would later go on to place 30th overall in the shot put with a toss of 13.30 meters.
