Dobbins placed fourth at the MAC Championships in the 165-pound bracket after posting a 3-2 record. The freshman opened the weekend with a 7-0 decision victory over Edinboro's Maxwell Kirby. Dobbins secured his spot in the semifinals with a 2-1 victory over Jake Silverstein of Rider. After falling to Garrett Thompson in the semifinals, Dobbins downed Tate Geiser of Cleveland State 4-0 to advance to the third-place match.
