Redshirt senior Austin Edgette had a monster week as he helped the Huskies to a 5-1 record (all against PSAC East opponents). As a result, Bloomsburg now has a three-game lead over West Chester in the divisional standings. Edgette hit safely in all six games and batted .600 (12-of-20) with 11 runs scored, four doubles, three home runs, and nine runs batted in during the six games. He also walked three times, was hit by a pitch twice, and did not strike out in 25 plate appearances. He posted an on-base percentage of .680 and had a 1.250 slugging percentage for the week.
In the split at Kutztown on Wednesday, Edgette went 4-for-8 with two runs scored, two doubles, and four RBI. Then, in Friday's doubleheader sweep at Mansfield, Edgette went 5-for-7 with four runs scored, two home runs, and two RBI. He homered in each game of the sweep - he entered with two home runs in his first 20 games of the year. Finally, in Saturday's home sweep of Mansfield, Edgette was 3-for-5 with five runs scored, a home run, and two RBI.
He led the team in nearly every offensive category during the week and has now hit safely in 23 of his 24 games played this season. Edgette is currently on a 10-game hitting streak and is now second in the PSAC in batting with a .470 average (39-of-83) with five home runs and 21 runs batted in. He leads the league in on-base percentage (.573) and is second in slugging (.795).
