After being held scoreless in Wednesday's 2-1 loss at Shippensburg, junior Tyler Madeira bounced back in a big way on Saturday as he collected his first collegiate hat trick in a 4-1 victory over Slippery Rock. He scored in the 33rd minute to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead and then scored in the 70th and 77th minutes to give Bloomsburg some insurance as Slippery Rock had cut the lead in half in the 41st minute. Madeira became the first Bloomsburg player to record a hat trick in a game since Karl Lohninger scored three times in a 9-1 win over Bloomfield College on October 18, 2003. Over the last five contests, Madeira has seven goals and two assists for 16 points after the hat trick on Saturday. He scored four consecutive Bloomsburg goals in back-to-back 2-1 wins over West Chester and Daemen on September 23 and September 26. All told, the junior has eight goals and two assists for 18 points putting him third in the PSAC in both goals and points.
