Huskies Blank Catawba College

BLOOMSBURG-Amanda Riley (Tannersville, Pocono Mountain East) scored two goals and assisted on one to lead the Bloomsburg University field hockey team to an 8-0 win over Catawba College on Sunday afternoon.

The game was scoreless till the 17th minute when senior Maggey Bloskey (Danville, Danville) scored off an Erin Hench (Loysville, West Perry) assist for a 1-0 Bloomsburg lead. Five minutes later the Huskies then scored two goals in a span of 40 seconds to push its lead to 3-0. Aime Sgarlat (Dallas, Lake Lehman) scored the first goal off a Lindsay Danz (Rehoboth Beach, DE, Sussex Technical) assist, then, Ashley Miller (Shermans Dale, West Perry) hit the back of the cage with Riley getting the assist.

Bloomsburg added two more scores before halftime, one from Alexis Weber (Bear, DE, William Penn) with Sgarlat getting the assist with Riley getting her first goal to give the Huskies a 5-0 lead at the break. In the second half, Lauren McGinley (Wilkes-Barre, Coughlin) scored two unassisted goals for the Huskies, while Riley closed out the scoring in the 68th minute with an unassisted goal.

Defensively the Huskies limited the Indians to just two shots on goal.

Bloomsburg, 16-1, will play at Millersville on Friday at 4 p.m. in a PSAC Eastern Division game.
