Huskies Lose Second Straight

BU can't overcome Lauren Beckley and the Lady Raiders, lose 80-44

SHIPPENSBURG-The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team fell to Shippensburg, 80-44 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East women's basketball action on Wednesday night.

The game started with both teams exchanging leads throughout the first nine minutes of action. A three-pointer by sophomore guard Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg South) gave Bloomsburg a 16-15 lead, but the Lady Raiders would then go on a 20-0 run over the next 5:49 to blow open the game and take a 35-16 advantage. A layup by senior forward Giselle Lara (Toronto, Ontario, Archbishop Romero) at the 3:46 mark would stop the scoreless run, but Shippensburg would close out the half on a 10-1 run to take a 26-point lead into the locker room.

It was much of the same in the second half as the Lady Raiders outscored the Huskies 35-25. Four Shippensburg players scored in double-figures, led by Lauren Beckley's 18. Freshman guard Tanejha Smith (Allentown, William Allen) led the Huskies with 11 points in 14 minutes off the bench.

The Huskies (11-6, 3-2) return to the court this Saturday when they host Kutztown. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Nelson Field House.
