LOCK HAVEN – Bobby Furman (Broomall, Maple Newtown) placed ninth as the Bloomsburg University men's cross country team finished fifth at the Lock Haven River Run on Saturday morning.

Bloomsburg was one of five teams competing at the 10,000-meter course, along with host Lock Haven, Indiana (Pa.), Mansfield, and Bucknell. Lock Haven won the event, finishing with 16 points.

Furman notched another top-10 performance this season, posting a ninth-place finish out of 76 runners in a time of 25:31.35.

David Moyer (Boyertown, Boyertown) carded a 24th-place finish, crossing the finish line at 26:22.48. Jared Arnold (Philadelphia, Engineering & Science) (27:16.75) finished third for the Huskies and 41st overall. Rounding out the top-five finishers for Bloomsburg were Nick Patton (Canton, Canton) (27:20.87) in 43rd and Mike Hookham (Middlesex, NJ, Middlesex) (27:33.88) in 46th.

Lock Haven's Nick Hilton took home first place for the Eagles in a time of 25:02.02.

"I felt as though the team ran better than it has all season," said head coach Bernie Empie. "All in all, the races were fairly close and it proved to be a good tune-up for the PSAC Championships."

Bloomsburg's next competition is in two weeks on Nov. 6 at the PSAC Championships, hosted by California (Pa.). The event is scheduled for 10 a.m.
