#3 Huskies Roll Past Mansfield, 12-1

BLOOMSBURG – Four different players scored two goals for the Bloomsburg University field hockey team as the #3 Huskies defeated Mansfield 12-1 on Saturday afternoon at Sports Stadium.

In total, eight different BU players notched goals while Lauren McGinley (Wilkes-Barre, Coughlin), Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top, Crestwood), Nicole Bruce (Dalton, Lackawanna Trail), and Brittany Mathews (Reedsville, Indian Valley) each netted two goals apiece.

Just 1:37 into the game, McGinley posted her 10th goal of the year on a shot from 10 yards out as she fired the ball past Mansfield starting goalkeeper Jamie Twist for a 1-0 lead.

The scoring barrage continued in the first half, as J. DiSabatino took the feed from Amber Aulenbach (Fleetwood, Oley Valley) and scored her sixth goal of the season to make it 2-0 Bloomsburg at 13:58.

At 15:14, Amanda Riley (Tannersville, Pocono Mountain East) got in on the action, scoring her team-leading 15th goal of the year, making it 3-0 Huskies.

Riley assisted on the next two goals at 22:07 and 24:55 shot off the sticks of Brieann Wolfe (Perkasie, Pennridge) and N. Bruce, as the two helped Bloomsburg make it 5-0 going into the intermission.

Ashley Miller (Shermans Dale, West Perry) tallied her fifth goal in 2010 at 35:54 as she took the feed from J. DiSabatino and tapped the ball past Twist to make it 6-0 Huskies.

J. DiSabatino and McGinley followed Miller's goal with ones of their own, putting BU up 8-0 at the 40:27 mark in the second half.

The Mountaineers did get on the board at 46:11 as Taryn Schawillie took the pass from Kristy Tutorow and slipped the ball past backup goalkeeper Megan Eppley (Camp Hill, Camp Hill) into the left corner to make it 8-1 Huskies.

Mathews scored the next two Bloomsburg goals in a span of 95 seconds, netting her third and fourth goals of the season.

N. Bruce and Cassie DiSabatino (Mountain Top, Crestwood) also scored before the final whistle for the Huskies.

Bloomsburg (14-2, 7-1 PSAC East) held the 41-10 shots and 6-4 penalty corner advantage over Mansfield (5-13, 3-5).

Meghan Hollenbach (Blandon, Fleetwood) and Eppley combined to make six saves on the afternoon, while Twist, Liz Phillippy and Kristie Rollman for the Mountaineers stopped 18 BU shots.

The Huskies are back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 9 as the team travels to Slippery Rock for a 4 p.m. start.
