Women's Basketball Succeeds at Clarion, 79-48

CLARION—Dana Wieller (Bethlehem, Liberty) had 18 points and ten different Huskies scored as the Bloomsburg University (6-1) women's basketball team had no trouble with host Clarion University (1-4), departing with a 79-48 win on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles kept the game close midway through the opening period, but over three minutes, a 16-0 run by Bloomsburg broke the game wide open with the score 29-11. Clarion chipped away at the lead and trailed by 14 with six minutes in the half, but Bloomsburg opened the advantage to 50-26 at the break. Wieller score 15 of her points before the intermission, making 3 of 6 three-pointers and all four of her free-throw attempts.

Things continued to go BU's way in the second half, as the Huskies limited Clarion to 6 for 22 from the field and stymied all four of the home team's second-half three-point attempts. Bloomsburg cruised to the 31 point victory for the team's second-straight win.

Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg South) posted an impressive 16-point game, while Alyssa Flanagan (Freeland, Hazleton Area) added eight points with game-highs in assists (7) and steals (7). Lauren Ellis (Bangor, Bangor) collected a team-high four rebounds.

The Huskies return to action next weekend when they travel to face Georgian Court on Sunday, December 19 at 12 p.m.
