MILLERSVILLE—
Amanda Riley (Tannersville/Pocono Mountain East)'s (Tannersville, Pocono Mountain East) goal in the second overtime lifted the Bloomsburg University field hockey team to a 3-2 win over Millersville University Wednesday in the PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Eastern Division opener for the Huskies.
Riley's goal came after the Huskies picked up a penalty corner in the third minute of the second OT.
Amber Aulenbach's (Fleetwood, Oley Valley) shot at 87:55 was blocked, but on the play Bloomsburg was awarded a penalty corner. The Huskies'
Amanda Deloy (Milton, DE, Cape Henlopen) started the corner with the ball going out to Aulenbach who took the shot. Millersville goalie Sara Dickinson made a save on the play, but Riley was there to poke the rebound in for the game winning goal.
Riley got things going for the Huskies in the 25th minute when she scored off a
Lindsay Danz (Rehoboth Beach, DE/Sussex Technical) assist for a 1-0 lead. The game stayed 1-0 till early in the second half when
Betsy Renn (Herndon, Line Mountain) scored off an Aulenbach assist on a penalty corner in the 43rd minute to make it 2-0 in favor of Bloomsburg.
Millersville got on the board in the 48th minute after a shot on a penalty corner was blocked by the Huskies. On the play though, Brittany Troutman scored with Ekom Enyoung getting an assist.
The Marauders tied the score with three minutes to play on a penalty corner with Emily Woodland getting the goal.
In the first overtime the Huskies held the edge getting three penalty corners to none for the Marauders and also a 3-1 advantage in shots. In the second overtime the Huskies held a 4-1 edge in shots in the before Riley's goal ended the game.
Bloomsburg is now 5-1, 1-0 in the PSAC East, while Millersville falls to3-5, 0-1 in the PSAC East. The Huskies host East Stroudsburg on Saturday at noon at Sports Stadium.
