SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV—
Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) netted 20 points to lead the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team to a 71-60 win over the Griffins of Seton Hill. Today's win is the first for the women's team this season.
Bloomsburg opened the game by going up 20-8 as six different Huskies scored baskets.
Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) and
Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) scored five points each to account for half of BU's points.
The Huskies extended their lead, going up by as much as 16 in the first half at the 3:39 mark. Bloomsburg would eventually carry a 12 point lead into halftime, 36-24.
Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland/Tri-Valley) had 11 points in the first half while Wieller scored 10. BU's
Lauren Ellis (Bangor/Bangor) played a big role in the Huskies' first half dominance with her 10 rebounds, three being offensive boards.
The second half was all Bloomsburg again as the Huskies went up by as many as 17 points. Seton Hill was as close as seven points with 11:23 remaining but the Huskies would go on to take the contest by 11 points.
Gallagher ended as Bloomsburg's leading scorer on the day with 20 points while also grabbing four rebounds and three steals. Oxenrider finished with 15 points and three steals while Noack chipped in 11. Ellis finished with five points and a game high 12 rebounds.
Bloomsburg will be back in action tomorrow, November 13 as the Huskies take on the Bowie State Bulldogs. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Butcher Center in Shepherdstown, WV.
