MILLERSVILLE—Junior Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) scored a career-high 36 points and Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) added 23 as the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team took sole possession of first place in the PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Eastern Division with a 79-68 win over 18th-ranked Millersville on Saturday. The win was the second of the season for the Huskies over the nationally ranked Marauders.

The teams played evenly through the first eight minutes of play with four lead changes and one tie. Then with the Marauders up 15-14, Wieller made a converted a conventional three-point play to put the Huskies on top 17-15. Bloomsburg would stretch that lead to 24-17 with 9:05 to play in the half when Gallagher would hit the second of her seven three-pointers.

After Millersville trimmed the BU lead to one, 26-25, the Huskies would go to the locker room leading 36-31.

In the second half the Huskies wasted little time taking control of the game outscoring the Marauders 9-2 in the first four minutes of play with both Gallagher and Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) hitting three-pointers. Millersville though rallied and twice pulled to within three points, the last time coming with 7:17 to play when a three-pointer by Sophia Water made it a 56-53 game.

Bloomsburg answered the rally by Millersville by going on another 9-2 run with Wieller scoring seven points, including a rare four-point play after being fouled on a three-pointer which put the Huskies on top 65-55.

The closest Millersville would get the rest of the way was seven points. Bloomburg sealed the win in the final minute by going 5-6 from the free throw line.

Gallagher, whose previous career high was 28 points against Goldey Beacom in December of 2009, made 12 of 18 shots from the floor, and was 7-12 from three-point range. Gallagher also pulled down five rebounds and had three assists. Wieller scored 23 points, hitting five shots from three-point range.

Millersville, 16-4, 6-2 in the PSAC East, got 24 points and 14 rebounds from Aurielle Mosley, while Mashira Newman scored 16.

Bloomsburg, 15-5, 7-1 in the PSAC East, will play at Shippensburg on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Lady Raiders are the only team to beat the Huskies in PSAC East play this season.
