Huskies Cruise in 9-1 Win over Skyhawks

BLOOMSBURG—The Huskies scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of regulation as they cruised to a 9-1 win over the Skyhawks of Stonehill College. With the win Bloomsburg improves to 2-0 while Stonehill drops to 0-2 on the season.

Amber Aulenbach (Fleetwood/Oley Valley) got things started for the Huskies as she ripped a shot from the top of the arc that beat the goalie at the 4:51 mark in the first half. 39 seconds later Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) would notch her first goal of the season as she beat the goalie on the left side for a score.

At the 9:56 point in the half Kate Bruce (Dalton/Lackawanna Trail) would deliver a pass in front of the net where Lauren McGinley (Wilkes-Barre/Coughlin) would get a stick on it, deflecting it past the goalie for Bloomsburg's third goal of the contest. McGinley's goal would force a Skyhawk timeout.

Senior Lindsay Danz (Rehoboth Beach, DE/Sussex Technical) would get into the action next for Bloomsburg as she scored off a penalty corner opportunity. Jaclyn Beasley (Berlin, NJ/Eastern) would be credited with the assist as she fired a shot that Danz would redirect for the score.

Aulenbach was be awarded a penalty stroke with just about 12 minutes to play. She made good on the try, sending the ball into the upper right corner of the net for her second goal of the evening. A little over two minutes later Danz would score her second goal as she beat the goalie on the right side of the net on a pass from captain Amanda Riley (Tannersville/Pocono Mountain East). Danz's goal would force a goalie change.

Brooke Simonovich (East Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg) gave the Huskies a 7-0 halftime lead as she carried the ball through several defenders before beating the goalie for a score. A stifling defensive effort coupled with a high power offense kept the Skyhawks at bay, as they were unable to register a shot in the half.

Alexis Weber (Bear, DE/William Penn) kept things rolling in the second half as she put BU ahead 8-0. Weber scored after a J. DiSabatino shot was kicked away by the Skyhawk goalie, leaving Weber to clean up the loose ball for her first goal of the season.

Bloomsburg scored their ninth and final goal of the contest with a little less than 21 minutes to play. Simonovich would score the final Husky goal as Danz carried the ball towards the net, drawing the Skyhawk goalie out allowing Danz to pass the ball to Simonovich for an open net goal.
Stonehill would tally their only goal of the game on a pently stroke from Devin Ingersoll with 17:28 to play in the game.

The Husky offensive provided 33 shots compared to Stonehill's seven. BU goalie Meghan Hollenbach (Blandon/Fleetwood) registered the win today as she made four saves on five shots. Megan Eppley (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) also saw time in goal, making one save. Stonehill goalies got a lot of action today as starting goalie Kaitlyn Curtis made five saves while Elizabeth Genovese came off the bench to make another 10.

Bloomsburg will be back in action on Tuesday, September 6th as they take on the Raiders of Shippensburg University. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Sports Stadium in Bloomsburg, PA.
