BLOOMSBURG - The number one nationally ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team improved to 9-0 on the season as they downed the Griffins of Seton Hill, 4-0 on Friday afternoon at Sports Stadium. The Huskies are 3-0 in the PSAC East while the Griffins fall to 2-7 on the season and stay at 0-4 in the PSAC West.
The Huskies controlled the first half of play as they controlled the ball mostly in the Griffins defensive half. Bloomsburg was able to fire 16 shots in the first half while only allowing one shot by Seton Hill.
Amanda Riley (Tannersville, Pocono Mountain East) broke into the game only a minute into the action when she dribbled past the Griffins defense and put the ball to the right side of the cage, putting the Huskies up 1-0.
Nicole Bruce (Dalton, Lackawanna Trail) would fire one to the net off a cross from
Brooke Simonovich (East Stroudsburg, Stroudsburg) at the 26:50 mark, giving Bloomsburg a 2-0 lead.
Bruce put the score up by three for the Huskies with less than 19 minutes left in the half, scoring off a pass from Riley.
Only 10 seconds would go by in the second half before Riley increased the lead for the Huskies as she scored seventh goal of the season. Simonovich would be credited with her second assist of the game, putting the score at 4-0.
The remainder of the game would remain scoreless with the Huskies taking the victory and recording 11 more shots in the second period.

Meghan Hollenbach (Blandon, Fleetwood) recorded a shutout as she made one save in the contest, while her counterpart stopped 10 of the Huskies shots.
Bloomsburg will look to continue their winning streak as they host IUP on Saturday, October 1st. Game time is set for 1 pm.
