Box Score BOX SCORE

MILLERSVILLE—The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team (17-4, 11-4 PSAC) came back from 23 points down to beat Millersville (12-7, 9-6 PSAC) on the road, 77-73.  Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland/Tri-Valley) led the Husky comeback with 22 points, making it eight games in a row she has scored in double figures.

Bloomsburg struggled in the first half as the Marauders of Millersville opened the game with a 19-6 run.  During the run, Bloomsburg made 3-of-9 shots but turned the ball over eight times.

Millersville extended their lead to 22 points in the first half and would enter halftime with a 42-21 lead.  BU's 21 point deficit is the largest they have seen all season.

Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland/Tri-Valley) led the Huskies in points in the first half with six on 3-of-3 shooting.  Marla Simmons (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) and Danielle Derr (Dresner/Upper Dublin) added seven points and five rebounds from off the bench.

The Marauders claimed their largest lead of the game in just the first minute of the second half, going up 44-21 on the Huskies.  From there the Huskies would piece together a 14-0 run to cut the lead to nine points.

During the nearly four minute run, the Huskies forced five Millersville turnovers as four different BU players scored points.  Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) nailed two three pointers during the run along with Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) chipping in four points.

Over the next six minutes, Bloomsburg nearly doubled-up the Marauders, outscoring them 13-7.  Now the Millersville lead stood at just five, 53-48.

Millersville pushed their lead back to eight points at the 7:26 mark.  Bloomsburg would respond with an 11-2 run to take their first lead of the game.

The 11-2 run was possible due to BU's execution at the free throw line.  Following an Oxenrider lay-in, the Huskies made seven straight free throws which cut the Millersville lead to just one.  Shortly after making their seventh foul shot, Alyssa Flanagan (Freeland/Hazleton Area) knocked down a jumper to give BU a 64-63 lead with 3:43 left in regulation.

Millersville took the lead right back on their next possession, hitting back-to-back free throws. However, the Huskies would outscore the Marauders 14-9 in the closing three minutes to claim a 77-73 win.

Oxenrider and Gallagher scored all of Bloomsburg's final 14 points, Oxenrider with eight and Gallagher with six.  The duo hit three trays and went 3-of-4 from the charity stripe to seal win number 17 for the Huskies.

Three BU players finished with double digits as Oxenrider led the way with a game high 23 points.  She also grabbed three rebounds and made four steals.  Gallagher had another complete game for the Huskies in just her second game back from injury, totaling 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.  Wieller was BU's third double digit score as she scored 17 points along with dishing out seven assists.  The three players combined for 46 second half points.

For the Marauders, Aurielle Mosley and Mashira Newman each finished with 20 points.  Mosley also had a game high 10 rebounds.

Bloomsburg will look to ride tonight's momentum as they travel to take on Cheyney University this Saturday, February 4.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
