BOX SCORE

EDINBORO, PA—The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team (26-4) is going to the PSAC Championship game following a 75-67 win over #21 Indiana Pa. (22-6).  The Huskies will be going for their second PSAC Championship in school history on the 20th year anniversary of their first.

Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) led all scorers with a season high 22 points as she went 6-of-7 from the field and knocked down five three pointers.  As a team the Huskies did not shoot the ball extremely well from the field but instead excelled at the free throw line as they made 34-of-39 attempts.

Bloomsburg got off to a slow start as the Crimson Hawks jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game.  Indiana's lead would hover around seven points until they went up by nine with 10:56 to play in the half.

The Huskies responded with a 9-0 run that tied things up at 20-20.  Bloomsburg would take their first lead of the game at 25-24 with 6:31 to play but would see it erased as the Crimson Hawks went on a 7-0 run to take a six point edge.

From that point on Bloomsburg would close out the first half on an 11-4 run to take a 36-35 lead into halftime.  Noack led the Huskies in the first half with 11 points on 3-for-3 shooting from beyond the arc.  Lauren Ellis (Bangor/Bangor) and Danielle Derr (Dresner/Upper Dublin) combined for nine first half rebounds.

In the second half, the game remained close as the lead changed eight times and three ties occurred.  From the 14:44 mark on Bloomsburg held the lead until Indiana took a 60-59 lead with 5:42 to play.  Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland/Tri-Valley) answered on Bloomsburg's next possession as she hit a step-back jumper.  However, Indiana's Marita Mathe responded right back as she drained a three pointer to take a two point lead.

With 4:02 to play, Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) was sent to the line for two shots.  Gallagher would make good on both attempts, tying the game at 63-63.  Her free throws would spark a 14-4 run by the Huskies as they closed out the Crimson Hawks, 75-67.  All of Bloomsburg's 14 points came via the free throw line as the Huskies went a perfect 14-for-14 from the charity stripe.

Noack led all scorers with 22 points while grabbing four rebounds.  Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) added another 13 points as she went 8-for-8 from the free throw line.  She also made a game high five steals.  Oxenrider finished with 12 points while Ellis scored seven and grabbed nine boards.

For the Crimson Hawks, Sarah Pastorek led the team with 19 points and seven rebounds.

Bloomsburg will be back in action tomorrow in the PSAC Championship game at 7:00 p.m. at the McComb Fieldhouse in Edinboro, PA.  The Huskies will play the winner between host Edinboro and West Chester.
