BLOOMSBURG—The sixth ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team earned its second Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) win of the season against seventh ranked East Stroudsburg 2-1 Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Sports Stadium.
Prior to the game the Huskies honored faculty and staff members of Bloomsburg University who impact the student athlete's lives off the field.
Bloomsburg scored the first goal of the game with 26:46 on the clock when Candice Smith (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) passed the ball up the middle and found Felicia Domenici (Kunkletown/Pleasant Valley) who tipped the ball in to go up 1-0 over the Warriors.
The Huskies scored the next goal in the 41st minute when Domenici crossed a pass to Brittany Mathews (Reedsville/Indian Valley) who soared the ball into the net.
Three minutes later East Stroudsburg brought the game within one at 2-1 when Alexis Good had the perfect corner pitch to Ally Roth who scored.
Domenici finished the game with a goal and an assist, Mathews had a goal, and Smith recorded one assist for the Huskies who move to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the PSAC.
Bloomsburg outshot East Stroudsburg (5-6, 2-2) 9-3 and held a 9-4 advantage in corners.
The Huskies push the all-time record to 45-6 over the Warriors who they lost to previously this season.
On Saturday, Oct. 12 Bloomsburg is back in conference action when they host Kutztown at 1 p.m. at Sports Stadium for homecoming.
