BLOOMSBURG--Lauren Ellis (Bangor/Bangor) had her fifth double-double of the season to help the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team slip past Mansfield University, 63-51, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game at the Nelson Fieldhouse Wednesday evening.

Three-pointers from Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) and Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) and a layup from Ellis helped the Huskies jump out to an 8-0 lead over the Mountaineers just three minutes into the game.

Then later, with 12:40 left in the half, Brianna Dudeck (Sugarloaf/Hazleton) hit a jumper to stretch the Huskies lead to double digits at 16-6.  The Huskies held onto the nine-point advantage until the 4:32 mark when a layup from Mansfield's Katie Yale started a 9-2 run for the Mountaineers that tied the score at 29-all. The Huskies though got four points from Ellis in the closing minutes of the half to lead 33-30 at the break.

The Mountaineers opened the second period with a layup cutting the lead to one, but from there the Huskies turned it on using 8-0 run bringing the lead back to nine, 41-32, with 15:54 to go in the game. Ellis began the rally with a layup, while Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland/Tri-Valley) ended the run with a layup.

Later in the period, Alyssa Flanagan (Freeland/Hazleton Area) recorded one of her four steals and broke away for a layup that pushed Bloomsburg's lead back into double digits at 47-36 with 12:12 left in the game.

The Mountaineers were able to make it a six-point game with 7:13 remaining, but triples from Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland/Tri-Valley) and Jocelyn Ford (Lansing, NY/Lansing) pushed the game out of reach. Oxenrider ended the scoring for the game with a layup that gave the Huskies their 63-51 victory.

Ellis led the way for the Huskies in her fifth double-double of the season scoring 14 points and grabbing a career-high 14 boards. Meanwhile, Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) and Jocelyn Ford (Lansing, NY/Lansing) each contributed 10 points, including four three-pointers a piece. Wieller also had seven assists.

The Huskies committed a season-low eight turnovers, while scoring 20 points off 21 Mansfield turnovers.
For the Mountaineers (5-19, 3-17 PSAC), Jena Matter put up 13 points and had eight rebounds, while Alyssa Derichie added 11 points and eight boards.

The win was Bloomsburg head coach Bill Cleary's 150th of his career, 94 of which coming at BU.

Bloomsburg (19-5, 15-5 PSAC) will host Kutztown on Saturday at 12 in the final regular season home game of the season. Before the game the Huskies will honor the four senior members of the team.
