AUBREY BOSSERT VIDEO DR. MICHAEL MARTIN VIDEO
BLOOMSBURG — Bloomsburg University honored 137 student-athletes as 2012-13 Scholar-Athletes. A luncheon honoring their achievements was held Tuesday, March 5th in the Kehr Union ballroom.
The Scholar-Athlete luncheon is an opportunity to celebrate the academic success of student-athletes who have achieved a grade point average of 3.25 or higher during the past two semesters or have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25.
This year 97 student-athletes meet that criterion. Additionally 40 freshmen or transfer student-athletes have posted a 3.25 grade point average or higher, in their first semester at BU, thus showing promise to become future scholar-athletes.
Also honored were 72 faculty members – identified by the student-athletes as influential to their academic endeavors and who have contributed to their overall academic well-being.
Junior Aubrey Bossert, a member of the lacrosse team, spoke on behalf of all of the Scholar-Athletes, while Dr. Michael Martin spoke on behalf of the faculty.
In addition, Lauren Kreglow from the women's soccer team and Bryce Shaffer from the men's soccer team were each given their CoSIDA All-District Academic awards, while Shaffer was additionally honored with his award for being named a First Team Academic All-American for the second straight year.
