STROUDSBURG —The Bloomsburg University field hockey team suffered its second loss of the season to East Stroudsburg Tuesday, 4-2, in the strenuous heat at Whitenight Field.

The first half featured back and forth action ending with a scoreless deadlock. The second half began with a penalty stroke goal by Ally Roth from the Warriors to put ESU up 1-0.

Brittany Mathews (Reedsville/Indian Valley) followed suit for the Huskies scoring Bloomsburg's first goal of the game at the 41:05 mark.

ESU scored the next two goals, however, to seize momentum by taking the 3-1 lead on the Huskies with 17 minutes to go in the game. Roth tallied the first score off a penalty corner while Alexis Good scored as well at 52:34 on another penalty corner.

Candice Smith (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) scored off a deflection from Mathews for Bloomsburg to bring it within one with just under eight minutes to play.

With 4:45 on the clock the Warriors scored an insurance goal off a corner from Gabrielle Seibert for the two goal lead, effectively securing the victory.

Mathews finished with a goal and an assist while Smith had a goal for the Huskies.Â

In net for Bloomsburg
Megan Eppley (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) made three saves. The Huskies fall to 0-2 on the season while the Warriors improve to 2-1.
The Huskies travel to Bellarmine in Louisville, Kentucky., for a Saturday, Sept. 14 match with host Bellarmine and then play Lindenwood at Bellarmine on Sunday, Sept. 15.
