EDINBORO, PA – It was a day for history under clear blue skies at Sox Harrison Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Franklyn Quiteh (Tobyhanna/Pocono Mountain West) and Danny Fisher (Liverpool/Central Dauphin) each re-wrote the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference record books as part of the 15th-ranked Huskies' 47-35 victory over the Fighting Scots.

With an eight yard carry early in the fourth quarter, Quiteh surpassed the previous all-time PSAC career rushing record of 5,689 held by Bloomsburg product Jamar Brittingham since 2007. Quiteh's moment with history wasn't the first of the day, however. Earlier in the afternoon, Fisher set his own PSAC record, breaking the conference mark for kicking points in a career of 287 which Mark Brubaker of East Stroudsburg had owned since 2005, now standing at 291. He also connected on two field goals to tie the record of 50 set by Ed Detwiler of East Stroudsburg in 1992.

Quiteh finished the day with 231 yards rushing to push his career total to 5,741 in maroon and gold. The senior found the endzone three times on the day as well.

A week after leading Division II with 457 yards on the ground, the Huskies put up 383 rushing yards against the Scots. Redshirt sophomore Dai'Shon Munger (Westampton, NJ/Holy Cross) again impressed with his second consecutive 100-yard day, recording 133 yards and two touchdowns. Munger narrowly missed his career-high of 135 yards set last week and Saturday marks his first multi-touchdown performance. The 383 yards of rushing by the Huskies represent the third-most ever surrendered by Edinboro.

The Huskies would need all of that to hold off a pesky Edinboro (1-1) squad to improve to 2-0 on the young season.

Dan Fisher
Edinboro roared back from a 31-14 second half deficit to draw within a touchdown at 34-28 following a 35-yard touchdown pass from the Fighting Scots' senior quarterback Cody Harris to Jordan Williams to end the third quarter. The next Huskies' drive sputtered, leaving Edinboro with solid field possession down by a score.

With the Boro moving ball at midfield, the Bloomsburg defense came up with a game-changing forced fumble to turn the tide when defensive end Larry Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton) forced Scots running back Jeremy Donaldson to fumble at his own 49 yard line. Donovan Morris (Philadelphia/George Washington) came away with the loose ball, ending the threat.

Edinboro appeared to have the Huskies stopped on the ensuing possession, but a costly third down pass interference call kept the BU drive alive. Quiteh broke the PSAC rushing record two plays later, and it was Munger who gave the Huskies some much needed breathing room with an eight yard rumble to pay dirt and a 40-28 advantage.

Quiteh put the exclamation mark on his day to remember following a turnover on downs by the Scots. The senior running back sprinted for a 47-yard touchdown which effectively put the game on ice, ahead 47-28.

The Fighting Scots came out blazing off following a wild 35-34 win at Walsh in the opening week. Using a no huddle offense throughout the game, Harris opened the contest by directing a 76-yard drive in six plays capped by a 54-yard pass to D'Andrea Vaughn.

Fisher put the Huskies on the board with a 36-yard field goal on the next drive, and Quiteh gave the visitors a lead they wouldn't relinquish with a five-yard touchdown plunge to end the first quarter.
Bloomsburg stretched the lead thanks to a key defensive play. Linebacker Justin Shirk (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) broke the ball free on a tackle following a Harris pass to Ben Eisel, which was recovered by Tomas Cabrera (Hanover/Hanover Area). The turnover set the Huskies up in prime field possession near midfield and the offense did the rest with a seven-play, 44-yard touchdown drive capped by a quarterback sneak by Tim Kelly (Camp Hill/Cedar Cliff) from one yard out on fourth and goal.

Bloomsburg struck for its longest play of the day on a Kelly connection to Tony Peregrin (Mayfield/Lakeland) for 57 yards which set up a four yard rush from Munger and a 24-7 lead. Harris drew the hosts closer with a 50-yard touchdown throw to Marcus Johnson to bring the score to 24-14.

The Huskies seized a 31-14 edge heading to halftime following a 75-yard drive on nine plays resulting in another Quiteh touchdown from two yards out and would not trail over the final 44:46 of game time.

Kelly tallied 143 yards through the air while completing 10 of 17 pass attempts and Peregrin led the receiving corps with three grabs for 67 yards. Glenn Hutton Jr. (Sicklerville, NJ/Paul VI) also caught three passes for 46 yards. Connor Gades (West Chester/Unionville) hauled in his first passes as Husky with three receptions for 27 yards.
Defensively, Shirk paced BU with 13 tackles while Andrew Harris (Bethlehem/Whitehall) was in on 11 stops. Chris Kennedy (Phoenixville/Archbishop Carroll) posted a sack and Cabrera added his second interception in as many games. Tyler Knoblauch (Berlin, NJ/Eastern) also added an interception while Gary Postell (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) had seven tackles and a forced fumble. In all, the Huskies forced five Edinboro turnovers.
For Edinboro, Harris was impressive as the senior completed 25 of 32 attempts for 360 yards and four touchdowns. Johnson was his favorite target, bringing in nine balls for 185 yards and a score. Harris also paced the Scots in rushing with 95 yards on the ground and another score.

Bloomsburg opens the PSAC East portion of its schedule when it travels to Kutztown next Saturday. That contest is scheduled to get under way at 1:05 p.m.
