BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University field hockey team defeated Mansfield 4-1 Saturday at Sports Stadium.

The Huskies were in total control throughout the entire first half holding an 18-0 edge in shots and allowing no corners.

The first pair of Huskies goals were scored less than a minute a part from each other.  Nikki Black (Huntington Mills/Northwest Area) scored her first goal of the season off a pass from Lauren Gerhard 25 minutes into the game.  Then 46 seconds later Samantha Facciolla (Holland/Council Rock South) rocketed a shot from the arc line directly into the goal.  It was Facciola's first career goal.

In the second half Mansfield scored off a corner three minutes in.  Bloomsburg answered with two more back-to-back goals.

In the 39th minute the game the Huskies scored their third goal when Felecia Domenici backhanded a pass to Brittany Mathews (Reedsville/Indian Valley) who buried the goal to put the Huskies up 3-1.  Two minutes later Domenici tipped the ball passed the goalie in a scramble in front of the cage to give the Huskies a 4-1 lead.

Bloomsburg dominated possession throughout the game outshooting its opponent 31-3, also holding an 11-1 edge in corners.

Domenici finished the game with a goal and an assist for the Huskies and leads the team in goals for the season with eight.

The Huskies, who move to 3-3, go on the road for their next three contests starting Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Kutztown for a 7 p.m. game.
