StatsSCOUTING CHEYNEYThe Lady Wolves were selected to finish ninth in the PSAC Eastern Division Preseason Coaches Poll last month after finishing last year at 4-21.
Cheyney brings five new players to the team this year along with six returnees. Three of the top four scorers from last year's team are back - Amber Genwright (9.6 ppg), Kia Whitley-Duncan (11.4 ppg) and Kyra Hines-Allen (11.6 ppg). Whitley-Duncan led Cheyney in points per game (11.4), field goals made (9.8/game), assists (4.0 apg), steals (1.6 spg) and minutes (34.3 mpg) a year ago and scored in double figures in six of the last seven games of the year.
Cheyney dropped its season opener on Monday night, 67-54 to Mercy. Three Cheyney players reached double-figure scoring: Kyra Hines Allen (13), Whitley-Duncan (12) and Lila Jones (12).
THE BLOOMSBURG-CHEYNEY SERIES
Bloomsburg leads 45-14The Huskies have won eight straight games vs. Cheyney, sweeping the season series in each of the past four years. Cheyney's last win in the series was a 71-61 decison at Nelson Field House on Feb. 6, 2010.
In the first meeting last year on Dec. 4, 2013 at home, the Huskies raced to a 49-11 halftime lead and never looked back on the way to a 78-35 victory, limiting Cheyney to 31.1 percent from the field (14-for-45).
Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) scored a game-high 22 while
Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) had nine points and 12 rebounds. Sadowski netted 27 points with 10 boards in the second game of the year, an 89-49 win at Cope Hall on Feb. 6.
Marla Simmons (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) also had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds as the Huskies defense held Cheyney to 29.8 percent shooting from the floor (17-57).

BEASTS OF THE EASTBloomsburg has won four straight outright PSAC East titles, matching their own record. The Huskies also achieved the feat from 1988-91 (also sharing with West Chester in 1987 and finishing in a four-way tie in 1986). Since then, no other Eastern Division team has won more than back-to-back outright divisional crowns. In all, Bloomsburg now has 14 PSAC East championships, shared and outright.
The Huskies have compiled a 55-7 record vs. PSAC East teams since the beginning of the 2010-11 season, including playoffs.
