Huskies Hold Pro Day Workouts

BLOOMSBURG PRO DAY PHOTOS  HIGHLIGHTS AND INTERVIEWS

BLOOMSBURG – The Bloomsburg University football team held its Pro Day on Thursday afternoon under sunny skies at Redman Stadium. Five Huskies along with a dozen other draft eligible seniors from various schools throughout the region displayed their skills for representatives from 17 NFL teams.

The Huskies on hand included offensive linemen Brian Clarke (Hanover/Hanover) and Matt Feiler (Strasburg/Lampeter-Strasburg), wide receiver Glenn Hutton Jr., running back Franklyn Quiteh (Tobyhanna/Pocono Mountain West) and defensive end Larry Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton).

The Pro Day itinerary began Thursday morning in the Nelson Field House gymnasium as the athletes went through various measurements as well as vertical jump testing and a bench press repetition test. Participants then moved outside to Redman Stadium where they worked through the 40-yard sprint and agility drills as well as individual position workouts for offensive and defensive lines and skill positions.

Webster had perhaps the most interesting day, working through both offensive and defensive drills for scouts interested in the skill set of the former Huskies basketball standout. Webster led Bloomsburg in sacks the past two seasons and turned heads at the NFL Combine by running the second-fastest 40 time of all defensive linemen behind only consensus top five pick Jadeveon Clowney of South Carolina.

"First I did a couple tight end drills, then I did lineman drills and a couple linebacker drills," Webster said. "It just feels like I'm doing a lot of things and I don't care what position I end up being as long as I have the ability to play football.

"I try not to compare myself to anyone," Webster said of the comparisons some have drawn to Clowney after the Combine. "I just try to make myself better."

Both Webster and Feiler were invited to April's NFL Combine after playing in the prestigious annual East-West Shrine Game.

"Overall I think I did well, I was trying to improve my numbers from the combine which I feel like I did a little bit," Feiler said.

A finalist for the Gene Upshaw Lineman of the Year Award for the past two seasons, Clarke along with Hutton, the Huskies leading receiver last year, had the opportunity to show off for the scouts in attendance.

"I felt confident coming in here and I think I did well," Clarke said. "I've been training for the past couple of weeks so I'm glad I came out here and had a solid day."

Both Clarke and Quiteh, the 2013 Harlon Hill Award winner as the top player in Division II, also played in a top post-season senior all-star game by taking part in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl where Clarke helped pave the way for a Quiteh rushing touchdown.

All of Thursday's Pro Day participants have the dream of hearing their name called on draft day. This year's NFL Draft takes place May 8-10. The last Huskies player to be drafted was offensive tackle Jahri Evans who was selected in the 2006 fourth round by the New Orleans Saints and has gone on to an All-Pro career.
