Field Hockey Evens Record With Victory

INDIANA, PA—The Bloomsburg University field hockey team scored three second half goals on its way to a 4-1 win over IUP on Saturday in PSAC field hockey action.
 
The Huskies and Crimson Hawks were locked in a duel in the middle of the field for much of the first half. Then with four seconds left before the break Bloomsburg's Meagen Hill (Gettysburg/Gettysburg) scored when she gathered in a loose ball in front of the cage making it 1-0.
 
Bloomsburg wasted little time adding to its lead when Whitney Kowski (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Regional) scored on a rebound of her own shot that she lofted over the goalie's head for a 2-0 advantage. The Huskie added to their lead seven minutes later when Peyton Shockley (Milford, DE/Milford) connected on a penalty stroke for a 3-0 lead.
 
The Crimson Hawks got on the board in the 45 minute of play when Tia Brandt scored on Ericka Griffith's assist. Bloomsburg's final goal of the game came at 53:45 when Candice Smith (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) scored her second goal of the season on an assist from Samantha Peters.
 
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) got the win in goal for the Huskies stopping six shots.
 
Bloomsburg goes to 2-2, 1-1 in the PSAC, while IUP falls to 0-2, 0-2 in the PSAC. The Huskies are back in action on Wednesday hosting Millersville at 4 p.m. at Steph Pettit Stadium.
