Game Preview: Field Hockey To Host Home Opener

STORYLINE
The Huskies host Kutztown University in the PSAC opener for both teams on Tuesday September 9 at 6 p.m.

LAST MEETING
Last season the Huskies defeated the Golden Bears, 3-0 in 2013. Brittany Mathews (Reedsville/Indian Valley), Felicia Domenici (Kunkletown/Pleasant Valley), and Nikki Gatone each scored one goal for Bloomsburg. Megan Eppley (Camp Hill/Camp Hill), Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) and Emiley Maiorana (Greencastle/Greencastle-Antrim) all saw time in the cage as part of the shutout. The Huskies defense was outstanding on the day limiting Kutztown to just two shot attempts, one in each half, while finishing with nine shots of their own. Bloomsburg was awarded five penalty corners to Kutztown's three.

SCOUTING KUTZTOWN
The Golden Bears dropped to Saint Anselm College 4-3 on Saturday, Sept. 6. Micaela Beaty, Skyler Oates, Anna Behm all scored one goal each for Kutztown.

LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies beat Newberry College 13-1 on Sunday, Sept. 7. The 13 goals were the most scored by the Huskies in a game since beating Mansfield 12-1 in 2010. For the game the Huskies held the edge in shots on goal (30-9), while the Wolves held the edge in penalty corners (9-7). Whitney Kowski (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Regional) and Gina Monahan (Newtown Square/Marple Newton) each scored three times and senior Felicia Domenici (Kunkletown/Pleasant Valley) added two goals and an assist. Peyton Shockley (Milford, DE/Milford), Geneka Mahan (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove), Sally DeLuca (West Pittston/Wyoming Area), Laura Gerhard (Catasauqua/Catasauqua), and Stephanie Halsted (Fairfax Station, VA/South County) all scored one goal each for the Huskies.

UP NEXT
The Huskies travel to IUP on Sept. 13 to play at 1 p.m.
