Huskies Stay Dominant on the Road, Post 85-45 Victory at Mansfield

Box Score (HTML)

MANSFIELD, Pa. – Three players registered double-figure scoring and 11 Huskies tallied points as the 21st-ranked Bloomsburg University women's basketball team rolled to an 85-45 victory at Mansfield on Wednesday evening.

The victory is the fifth in a row for the Huskies (12-2, 10-1 PSAC) and maintains Bloomsburg's lead in the PSAC East standings while Mansfield slumps to 1-15, 0-12.

Jocelyn Ford (Lansing, NY/Lansing) netted eight quick points for an early 8-2 advantage before Mansfield rallied for a 9-8 edge on a jumper in the lane from Brielle Kelly.

Taylor Maldonado (Stroudsburg/Allentown Central Catholic) responded with a bucket on a fast break as the Huskies unleashed a 15-0 run to leap ahead, 23-9, at the 6:25 mark.

The Mountaineers went over six minutes without scoring before Katie Fitzpatrick finally ended the drought with a layup to cut the Huskies lead to 23-11.

Nikki Tamanosky (Camp Hill/Cumberland Valley) worked inside for a basket on the next trip down the court, and the Huskies ultimately went to the locker room with a 43-23 cushion at halftime as Taylor Kaminski (Philadelphia/Archbishop Wood) ended the half by draining a 3-pointer to put an exclamation mark on an impressive opening 20 minutes.

Bloomsburg continued to pull away as the second half began, starting the period on a 12-4 break.

Mansfield got as close as 57-34 with 14:02 left to play before the Huskies embarked on a 13-2 run, racing ahead by a 70-36 score following a layup from Erica Maciejewski (Red Lion/Red Lion) at the 8:22 mark.

From there the Huskies never looked back, allowing the entire bench to see solid minutes.

Reigning PSAC East Athlete of the Week Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) led all scorers with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting, adding six rebounds and two blocks in just 21 minutes. Camden Boehner (Gettysburg/Gettysburg Area), the two-time defending PSAC East Freshman of the Week, finished with 14 points in 23 minutes.

Morgan Klunk (Felton/York Catholic) recorded 10 points while three players – Ford, Marla Simmons (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) and Nicole Southcott (Downingtown/Coatesville) – all netted eight points apiece.

Melanie Taylor scored 12 points and Kelly had nine for the Mountaineers.

Bloomsburg returns home on Saturday afternoon to host Kutztown inside Nelson Field House with tipoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
