LAST YEAR VERSUS MILLERSVILLEIt was a happy Homecoming for the Bloomsburg University football team and the 5,237 fans in attendance under partly sunny skies at Redman Stadium as the 12th-ranked Huskies romped to a 41-0 victory over Millersville to move to 6-0 overall on the year and 5-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play.
The Huskies dominated the Marauders (0-6, 0-5) in every statistical category, finishing with a 446-175 edge in total yardage. Bloomsburg racked up 258 yards on the ground and 188 through the air, but the defense was again the star.

FROM THE ARCHIVES With Robert DunkelbergerThe 63 points Bloomsburg scored on Saturday tied for the seventh highest total in school history against a collegiate team, the most being the 74 versus Mansfield in 1996. It was the most since an identical 63-0 victory at Lock Haven in 2005 and at home since a 69-0 Homecoming win over Cheyney in 2004.
The 63-point margin of victory for the Huskies tied for the fourth most in school history, behind the 69 points against Cheyney in 2004. The 42 points scored in the first half was tied for the fourth highest total over the past 20 years, the most being 50 at home versus Lock Haven in 1996.
The Bloomsburg defense on Saturday limited Cheyney to just 62 total yards of offense, including 17 through the air. The total offense figure was the fourth least in a single game since 1993. The only lower totals were 24 versus Wayne State in 1996 and 55 for Cheyney and 65 for Lock Haven, both in 2004. The 17 yards passing allowed tied for the fourth lowest, after nine for Kutztown in 1997, 16 for both Cheyney and Lock Haven in the 2004 games, and 17 versus Mansfield in 2006.
The Huskies defense has now recorded a shutout in back-to-back seasons. This is the first time that has been done in a decade since the 2004 and 2005 teams combined for six shutouts in those two years.
Â
Paul Darragh now has 24 victories in his first 30 games as head coach, the second highest total in school history behind Robert Redman's 27. The only other coaches to win at least 20 times in their first 30 games were Pete Adrian with 22 and Jack Yohe with 21.
DEFENSE MAKING SOME NOISEThe Bloomsburg University defense has been playing outstanding the last two and half games. In the last 11 quarters of action the Huskies defense has allowed just 12 points (four field goals) and no touchdowns. In the game with Cheyney the Huskies limited the Wolves to just 62 yards of total offense. It was the first time since Oct. 16, 2004 against Cheyney (55 yards) that the Huskies have held an opponent to less than 100 yards of offense. In 2004 the Huskies accomplished the feat twice that year. On Sept.18 against Lock Haven the Huskies limited the Bald Eagles to just 65 yards.
OFFENSE MAKING SOME NOISEThe 63 points scored by the Huskies against Cheyney was two more than Bloomsburg had combined to score in the first four games of the season. The 63 points were the most scored by the team since scoring 61 points against Kutztown in 2010.

Two of his three sacks came in the fourth quarter. One was a three-yard loss on fourth down which ended a drive. The second was on Cal's last possession for a 12-yard loss which pushed the Vulcans back deep in their own territory.
A TALE OF TWO HALVES VERSUS CALIFORNIAAfter allowing 243 yards of total offense to the Vulcans in the first half of their week two matchup, the Huskies defense stepped up and made a big turnaround in the second half. Bloomsburg gave up just 115 yards of total offense and no points to Cal in the second 30 minutes. Cal had 12 first half first downs and just five in the second half. In time of possession the Vulcans totalled just 8:10 in the second half.
