CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team could not mount a comeback on Sunday afternoon and dropped its first game of the season, 80-65, at California University of Pennsylvania. The Huskies fell to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action. The Vulcans, ranked fifth in the latest USA Today Sports Top 25 poll, improved to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in league action.

Mia Hopkins (Pittston/Pittston Area) continued to excel, posting her fourth consecutive double-double to start her Bloomsburg career. She finished the afternoon with 16 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, and four steals in a losing effort. Junior
Morgan Klunk (Felton/York Catholic) tied Hopkins in the scoring column with 16 points while adding three rebounds and three assists.
The Vulcans led by two, 21-19, after the opening quarter and then limited the Huskies to just 13 second quarter points to take a 42-32 lead to the locker room at halftime. The hosts shot 53.3% from the floor in the first half, including 3-of-5 from three-point range. Bloomsburg, meanwhile, struggled to knock down shots, going 13-of-36 (36.1%) from the field in the opening twenty minutes and just 1-of-6 from long distance.

Alyssa Mack (Walnutport/Allentown Central Catholic) gave the Huskies some life. But, the Vulcans scored the next six points, four by Seairra Barrett, to jump back in front by 13 with 1:35 left in the third – a sign that a comeback was not meant to be on Sunday.
The Huskies cu the California lead to nine to end the third quarter but the Vulcans outscored Bloomsburg, 21-15, in the fourth for the final margin.
Bloomsburg, which trailed by 13 points in the fourth quarter at Seton Hill on Saturday before rallying for a three-point win, ended up shooting 39.7% from the field for the contest. Hopkins, who was just 6-of-18 from the field, had her lowest scoring output of the season with 16 points. Through four games, the junior is averaging 21.0 points and 12.0 rebounds in her first season with Bloomsburg.
Redshirt senior
Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) scored 14 points on 6-of-7 from the field and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. Mack also finished in double figures, pouring in 11 points off the Husky bench. She hit all three of Bloomsburg's three pointers.
California used just six players on Sunday and had four players finish in double figures, led by Barrett who finished with 23. Miki Glenn, who had scored at least 20 points in the first four games of the season, had 16 on just 4-of-12 from the field.
The Huskies will play their first home game of the season on Sunday, November 29, when they host the University of the Sciences at Nelson Field House. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
