Christian Mortellite (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton) scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Huskies men's basketball team to a 96-65 win over Mansfield at the Nelson Field House on Saturday afternoon.

Mansfield (3-9, 1-7 PSAC East) led 7-1 in the early going with Matt Tamanosky scoring six of the points for the Mounties. The Huskies then rallied scoring eight straight points to take a 9-7 lead. Then with the score tied at 11-all, the Huskies used a 16-6 run to go up by 10 points with Mortellite getting untracked and scoring seven points. In the rally Bloomsburg forced the Mountaineers into six turnovers.

Bloomsburg (6-5, 4-3 PSAC East) continued to add to its lead with strong bench play in the first half. A three-point play from Tyreik Stewart, a pair of free throws from
Charles Haigler (Charles Town, WV/Hargrave Military Academy) and a 3-pointer from
Yahmir Greenlee (Philadelphia/Boys Latin) pushed the Bloomsburg lead to 45-29 with 2:02 to play in the opening half. Later a layup from Haigler stretched the lead to the biggest of the half at 17 points, 49-32, with 35 seconds to play.

In the opening 20 minutes the Huskies forced 15 turnovers and scored 20 points off those turnovers.

The second half saw more of the same with Bloomsburg quickly putting the game out of reach. The Huskies held Mansfield scoreless for the first three and a half minutes of the second half while going on a 16-0 run to go on top 65-34.
Malik Garner (Philadelphia/Chestnut Hill Academy) scored nine points in the run for Bloomsburg.

Bloomsburg took its biggest lead of the game at 35 points on a layup by Haigler with 13:41 to play. From there the closest the Mountaineers would get was 26 points with 9:04 to go in the game.

The Huskies emptied the bench in the final five minutes with nine of the 13 players on the roster denting the scoring column.
For the game the Huskies scored 38 points off the Mansfield turnovers and had 44 points off the bench.

Mortellite finished with 20 points, hitting four 3-pointers, with Haigler netting 19 points. Garner added 17 points and six rebounds, while
Donell Diggs (Washington, D.C./Takoma Academy) had eight points and a career-high 10 assists.

Thomas Moore scored 16 points to lead three Mansfield players in double figures.

Bloomsburg will be idle till January 3 when it hosts Slippery Rock at 1 p.m.
