SCOUTING MANSFIELDMansfield has had bright spots as of late, winning two of its last four games to snap what was a 47-game losing streak against Division II opponents. The Mountaineers snapped their skid with a 59-53 win at Cheyney on Jan. 31 behind 20 points and eight rebounds from Katie Fitzpatrick. Mansfield then scored a 53-50 triumph at Lock Haven last Saturday as freshman Brielle Kelly led the way with 21 points and nine rebounds.
Fitzpatrick and Kelly lead the Mountaineers as the team's only two double-figure scorers for a team that ranks 17th in the conference in scoring at 57.1 points per game. Mansfield is also 17th in scoring defense, allowing 73.0 ppg. Kelly has been especially strong as of late, scoring 16 or more points in each of her last four games after not reaching that total since the first game of the season against non-Division II opponent Central Penn. Fitzpatrick, meanwhile, leads the conference with 3.0 steals per game.
