Emily Mayhew (Perkasie/Pennridge) hit a grand slam and drove in a combined six runs to lead the Bloomsburg University softball team to a sweep of a doubleheader with East Stroudsburg on Sunday by scores of 7-1 and 3-1. The games were originally to be played on Monday, but were moved due to the threat of rain tomorrow.

In game one the Huskies trailed 1-0 going to the bottom of the fifth inning against ESU pitcher Rachael Ligouri. With one out in the bottom of the fifth
Taylor Parker (Dewart/Warrior Run) was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a bunt. Mayhew then followed with a double down the left field line scoring Parker with the tying run.

In the bottom of the sixth inning the Huskies took advantage of wildness on the part of the ESU pitchers scoring six times on just two hits.
Caitlin O'Connor (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) led off with a double and was pinch-run for by
Lindsay Nemeth (Drums/Marian Catholic). A wild pitch moved Nemeth to third.
Maggie Hall (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown) was then hit and moved to second on another wild pitch. A walk to
Sarah Bortner (Glenville/South Western) loaded the bases with
Anna McElroy (Jessup/Valley View) hitting a sac fly to right scoring Nemeth with the go-ahead run. After
Erica Keen (Gordonville/Bishop Shanahan) reached on a fielder's choice, Parker was hit by a pitch, which reloaded the bases.
Bridget Casey (Perkasie/Pennridge) was then hit by a pitch forcing in a run to make it 3-1. ESU then went to the bullpen for Allison Mende to face Mayhew. The freshman drilled a shot off of Mende to left field for a grand slam to make it 7-1.

Bortner put down the Warriors in order in the seventh to earn her fourth win of the season. Mayhew finished 3-4 with five RBI.

In game two the Warriors again jumped out to an early lead going up 1-0 with a run in the second against Parker with the run being unearned.

The Huskies went on top in the bottom of the fifth inning when with one out
Valerie Carcasses (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) beat out a grounder to shortstop. O'Connor then followed with a line shot that quickly made it over the fence in right center field putting the Huskies up 2-1.

Bloomsburg added an insurance run in the sixth inning when Mayhew hit a sac fly scoring pinch runner
Abbey Remley (Berwick/Berwick Area) making it a 3-1 game.

Parker was in control throughout the game and at one point had retired eight straight hitters and closed out the game putting down 14 of the final 16 batters. She allowed five hits for the game, while striking out three and walking two.

Bloomsburg, 20-10, 15-5 in the PSAC East, plays at Mansfield on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
