Caitlin O'Connor (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) went 3-3 with a homer and three RBI to help the Bloomsburg University softball team break out of its offensive doldrums leading the Huskies to a 15-1 win over Mansfield University and a split of its doubleheader on Sunday. The Mountaineers won the opener, 3-1.

The Huskies went into game two having scored just three runs in its last three games. But in game two of the twinbill the Huskies struck first.
Erika Yanora (Tunkhannock/Tunkhannock) reached on an error and moved to third on a double by
Taylor Parker (Dewart/Warrior Run).
Emily Mayhew (Perkasie/Pennridge) hit a sacrifice fly scoring Yanora for a 1-0 lead. O'Connor then singled up the middle scoring Parker to go up 2-0.

Bloomsburg added to its lead in the third. With one out Mayhew and O'Connor delivered back-to-back solo homers to make it 4-0. After a Mansfield pitching change the Huskies made it three straight solo homers when
Valerie Carcasses (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) went deep for a 5-0 edge.

The offense continued in the top of the fourth with the Huskies adding three runs on four hits. Parker had a sacrifice fly in the inning, while O'Connor also had an RBI single with the third run scoring on a wild pitch.

Mansfield kept the game alive scoring once in the bottom of the fifth, but the Huskies wasted little time getting the run back and more scoring seven times in the sixth inning and going on to win 15-1.

Parker got the win in the circle, her 12
th victory of the season. Along with O'Connor's three hits, Parker,
Bridget Casey (Perkasie/Pennridge), Carcasses and Mayhew all had two hits.

In the opener the Huskies fell 3-1 with
Sarah Bortner (Glenville/South Western) suffering the loss in the circle. Mansfield went up 1-0 in the second on a solo homer and then added some insurance runs with two in the fourth.

The Huskies meanwhile left a runner on in the fifth and two more in the sixth. In the seventh Bloomsburg got on the board when Mayhew singled, went to second on a wild pitch, took third on a single by Parker and scored on
Anna McElroy (Jessup/Valley View)'s single. However, Mansfield got a ground out to end the game and win 3-1.

Bloomsburg will be the No. 2 seed from the PSAC for the upcoming PSAC playoffs after finishing with an overall record of 24-14, 19-9 in the PSAC East. Mansfield ends its season at 12-24, 7-21 in the PSAC East.

The PSAC playoffs will begin on Thursday in Quakertown against an opponent to be determined.
