STORYLINE
The Huskies hit the road for the first time in five games, and are coming off of a 3-1 victory over Slippery Rock on Wednesday.
LAST MEETING
Bloomsburg defeated Mansfield, 4-3, last year at Steph Pettit Stadium. The Huskies jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from
Candice Smith (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove),
Laura Gerhard (Catasauqua/Catasauqua) and
Nikki Gattone (Reading/Muhlenberg) respectively. A goal by Jessi Swingle in the 57
th minute would get Mansfield on the board, but
Meagen Hill (Gettysburg/Gettysburg) would respond less than five minutes later to make it 4-1 in favor of Bloomsburg. The Mountaineers would score back-to-back goals in the 63
rd and 64
th minute respectively to make it a 4-3 game, but would get no closer as the Huskies held on for the win.
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) and
Emiley Maiorana (Greencastle/Greencastle-Antrim) would combine for six saves in the cage.
SCOUTING MANSFIELD
The Mountaineers come into the contest off of a 2-0 loss to IUP on Wednesday, to fall to 0-7 on the year. Courtney Wilson and Brianna Hathaway lead Mansfield with a goal apiece on the year. In the cage Laura Lawson has made 92 saves, which is the most in the PSAC.
LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies defeated Slippery Rock by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. Kayla Mack got The Rock on the board with a goal in the 3
rd minute of the game, but in the 23
rd minute,
Stephanie Halsted (Fairfax Station, VA/South County) took a rebound off the post and put it in past the goalie to tie the game. In the 67
th minute of the second half,
Eleanor Kirby (Garnet Valley/Garnet Valley)'s goal off of an assist from
Geneka Mahan (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) would give the Huskies the lead for good.
Whitney Kowski (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Regional) would provide an insurance goal four minute later off of an assist from
Sally DeLuca (West Pittston/Wyoming Area). Bloomsburg has won three of its last four games.
