HTML BOX SCOREBLOOMSBURG—The No. 9 ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team remained unbeaten after posting a 3-1 win over Pace University on Sunday at Steph Pettit Stadium in a non-conference matchup.

The Huskies controlled play in the early going getting six penalty corners in the first eight minutes of play. On one of the penalty corners Peyston Shockley was taken down on a shot attempt in front of the goal and was awarded the penalty stroke. Shockley then drilled home a shot to the upper right of the cage to put the Huskies on top 1-0.

Nearly two minutes later the Huskies added to their lead when
Sam Peters (Yeagerstown/Mifflin County) scored off a Talie Wehner assist on a scramble in front of the cage.

Pace, playing just the second game in program history, cut the deficit to 2-1 with a goal in the 19
th minute of play. On a penalty corner, Carly Corbett took the initial pass and fed Samantha Gray who drove the ball to the left side of the cage.

In the second half the Huskies completely dominated the action, keeping the ball in its offensive end for much of the period. Midway through the half the Huskies added to its lead.
Mackenzie Wirth (Thompsontown/Greenwood) took a shot that was saved by Pace goalie Bridget Murphy. The ball did not get cleared by anyone from Pace and Eleanor Kriby came in and took the rebound and easily got it past Murphy for the third goal.

Along with the solid play of the Huskies midfield, Bloomsburg goalie
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) make a great diving save on a penalty stroke attempt. With under nine minutes to play Sarah Bard came on to attempt the stroke. Going high and left, Cassel reacted and knocked down the scoring chance with a diving stick save to keep it 3-1.

Cassel finished with three saves on the afternoon, while the Huskies outshot the Pacers, 21-6.
