2015 StatsQUICK SIX• The Huskies dropped their season and home opener last week to unranked Stonehill, 27-10. The loss was the first time since 1999 that the Huskies had lost their season opening game at home.
• The loss to Stonehill knocked the Huskies out of this week's AFCA poll snapping a streak of 57 straight appearances in the national rankings. (Oct. 11, 2010-Sept. 3, 2015)
• The loss also snapped a four-game winning streak in season openers for Bloomsburg. The Huskies are now 11-5 in season-openers since 2000.
•
Tim Kelly (Camp Hill/Cedar Cliff) began the season with more career victories (30) than any other Super Region One quarterback and more starts (36) than any other PSAC player.
• Bloomsburg is aiming for its third straight PSAC East title this season. The Huskies have achieved that feat twice previously, winning four division titles in a row from 1994-97 and 2000-03.
• Bloomsburg, which lost its last game of the 2014 season as well as its season opener in 2015, has now dropped back-to-back games for the first time since 2011 when the team lost to LIU Post and Kutztown in consecutive games. The last time the Huskies had more than a two-game losing streak came in 2009 and 2010. In 2009 the Huskies lost the final three games of the season, then lost its 2010 opener to Ashland for a four-game losing streak.
THE GAMEBloomsburg fell to unranked Stonehill in its season opener, 27-10. The Huskies managed just 268 yards of total offense for the day and turned the ball over three times. Bloomsburg rushed for just 86 yards in the game. Quarterback
Tim Kelly (Camp Hill/Cedar Cliff) threw for 178 yards and one TD with
Chad Hoffman (Drums/Hazleton) catching six passes for 81 yards and
Nate Hoenl (Whitehall/Whitehall) catching the TD pass of 14 yards for his only reception.
Senior quarterback James Harris passed for nearly 400 yards and four touchdowns and junior wide receiver Garry Brown totaled almost 250 all-purpose yards and two scores, as the Vulcans posted a 35-16 season-opening victory at Virginia State. California has now won 12 of its last 15 season-openers and head coach Mike Kellar improves to 6-0 all-time as a head coach in season-openers.
SERIES HISTORYThis will be the 25th meeting in the series between the two schools, dating back to the first meeting in 1928. The Huskies' lead the series with the Vulcans is 14-8-2,. In the last seven most recent meetings (dating back to 2006) the Huskies lead 5-2. Bloomsburg has won three straight in the series.

LAST YEAR'S MEETINGThe Huskies pulled out a 24-21, OT win against the Vulcans at Redman Stadium to improve to 2-0 on the season. Cal took the early lead on a field goal by Cody Nuzzo before the Huskies rallied and went up 14-3 on a four-yard fumble recovery by
Alex Dundore (Reading/Exeter ) and a 12-yard run by
Eddie Mateo (Bethlehem/Freedom). Cal cut the lead to 14-10 on a James Harris TD pass. In the fourth period Mateo scored again for a 21-10 lead before the Vulcans came back with a TD pass from Harris (along with the two-point conversion) and a game-tying 53-yard field goal from Nuzzo as time expired. In the OT the Huskies
Shawn Mitchell (Nazareth/Nazareth) picked off Harris on the first play.
Braden Drexler (Bethlehem/Nazareth) then drilled a 32-yard field goal to win it for the Huskies.
