HUSKIES TO THINKBIG IN OCTOBER
The Bloomsburg University football team, during the entire month of October, will be helping to fight pediatric cancer through the ThinkBIG Pediatric Cancer Fund. The program is entitled "Touchdowns For Pediatric Cancer." Throughout the month, the Bloomsburg football program will be recruiting friends, families, and fans of the Huskies to sign up to donate any amount per touchdown scored. The more fans Bloomsburg recruits - and the more touchdowns the Huskies score in the month of October - the more money raised for ThinkBIG. To learn more about the campaign and to set up a donation, visit http://buhuskies.com/news/2016/9/26/football-to-thinkbig-during-month-of-october.aspx. It's not too late to register.

FIVE THINGS TO WATCH
- The Huskies look to bounce back from a 34-24 loss at Kutztown last Saturday when it hosts West Chester on Homecoming Weekend. The Golden Rams are coming off of a 31-15 win over Shippensburg last Saturday. The teams are tied for second in the PSAC Eastern Division.

- This will mark the 75th meeting between Bloomsburg and West Chester in the all-time series with the Golden Rams holding a 48-26 edge over the Huskies in the series. Bloomsburg was 4-29 against West Chester from 1925-1977 but has since gone 22-19 against the Golden Rams since the 1978 season.

- Bloomsburg has rattled off 17 consecutive winning seasons and 17 consecutive seasons of seven or more victories. Only Division I's Florida State (31) and Virginia Tech (23), Division II's Northwest Missouri State (19), and Division III's Mount Union (27) have longer streaks in all of college football. Boise State and Oklahoma have streaks equal to that of Bloomsburg's.

- Senior running back Lawrence Elliott, Jr. rushed for two scores in the loss at Kutztown last week. He now has 14 rushing touchdowns on the season - tied for first in the PSAC (Robert Healy, ESU) and tied for second in the country (Lawrence Pittman of Wingate has 15).

- West Chester enters the contest third in the PSAC in total offense (492.8) and second in the league in total defense (328.0) but it is -4 in turnover margin as Golden Ram quarterbacks have been picked off a league-high 13 times this season. Bloomsburg, defensively, has nine interceptions in six games.

FROM THE ARCHIVES (by BU Archivist, Bob Dunkelberger)
- Even with Saturday's 34-24 defeat at Kutztown, Bloomsburg has still lost just two of the last 24 games in the series.  It was just the second time in 31 games in series history that the Huskies have scored at least 24 points in a game with the Golden Bears and lost.  The first defeat was by a 48-24 count in 1981 at Kutztown. The 34 points for Kutztown was the eighth highest total for them in the 70-game series with Bloomsburg. The record for the Golden Bears when scoring 30 or more points versus the Huskies is 5-4 and just 13-12 when scoring 20 or more.  All 12 of the Bloomsburg wins have come since 1985.  Before then, 14 points had been the most the Huskies had allowed to the Golden Bears in a game and still come out on top.

- Bloomsburg is now just 79 points away from reaching 20,000 points scored in the all-time history of the program - a history that has spanned 1,056 games. The 5,000-point mark was reached in 1952 in game #414; the 10,000th point in 1987 in game #723; and the 15,000th in 2004 in game #909.

- Homecoming on Saturday is the 89th in school history since the first one in 1928. Bloomsburg's record in the first 86 football games (two were missed because of World War II) is 55-30-1. West Chester has been the opponent 13 times, with the Huskies thus far winning five. The only opponent they have faced more often at Homecoming is Millersville - a total of 18 times. The Golden Rams won the first seven games while a guest at Bloomsburg homecoming by an average margin of 27 points, beginning with a 28-0 victory in 1963 - up through 1981. The Huskies have won five of six since 1993, with the only loss 24-21 in 2008. Overall, Bloomsburg has a record of 28-5 in Homecoming games since the 1983 season.

- The game with West Chester is the 75th in the series between the two schools, dating back to the first meeting in 1925 when Bloomsburg lost 13-0 at West Chester.  The first home win was the following year by a 9-0 score, which is also the only time Bloomsburg has shutout West Chester in series history. The Huskies' record in the first 74 games is 26-48, with a mark of 19-19 at home and 7-29 on the road. A win on Saturday would put Bloomsburg over the .500 mark at home against West Chester for the first time since 1959 when the home series record stood at 4-3. The Huskies then proceeded to lose 11 straight at home to the Golden Rams from 1961 to 1981. Since 1991, they have turned it around with a 13-3 home record over West Chester.

7 - Quarterback sacks by redshirt sophomore Chris Gary (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) through the first six games. He is tied for first in the PSAC and is tied for ninth in the country. 14 - Rushing touchdowns through six games by senior Lawrence Elliott, Jr. He ranks tied for first in the PSAC and tied for second in the country in that category. He is on pace for 26 rushing touchdowns this season (school record is 32 by Jamar Brittingham in 2005)

112 - Consecutive games of scoring at least one touchdown
112 - Bloomsburg is 112-3 all-time when scoring at least 40 points in a game.  Bloomsburg has recorded a program-record of seven games with at least 40 points four times (2005, 2007, 2012, and 2013). However, the Huskies have reached the 40-point plateau only three times in the last 17 contests

Only 14 times in 42 games under head coach Paul Darragh has a Bloomsburg quarterback has thrown for more than 200 yards in a game
288 - Rushing yards needed by Lawrence Elliott Jr. (Utica, N.Y./Thomas R. Proctor) to crack the school's top ten list in career yardage. Tom Martin (1985-87) is tenth with 2,476 career rushing yards

1,257 - Team rushing yards needed by the Huskies to reach 50,000 since the start of the 1999 season (when the consecutive winning streak and consecutive streak of seven wins or more began)
