ERIE—The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team fell to Gannon University, 71-63, in overtime on Sunday afternoon in Erie. The Huskies had two players in double figures with
Taylor Montana (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) scoring 14 and
Alyssa Mack (Walnutport, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) 13. The loss dropped the Huskies to 1-6, 0-4 in the PSAC East.

Bloomsburg took a 56-53 with 21 seconds to play in the fourth period after a pair of free throws from
Casey Warley (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin). After a Gannon timeout, Julie Braungart drilled a 3-pointer for the Golden Knights with 11 seconds left to tie the game. Bloomsburg could not get off a shot in regulation and the game went to overtime.

In the extra session Montana hit a jumper to give Bloomsburg a 58-56 lead with 4:23 to play. Gannon came back with five straight points to go on top 61-58 with 2:45 to go.
Morgan Klunk (Felton, Pa./York Catholic)'s jumper brought the Huskies to within a point, 61-60, with 2:29 left. That would as close as the Huskies would get the rest of the way as the Golden Knights outscored the Huskies, 12-3, down the stretch going 7-8 from the free throw line to seal the win.

Bloomsburg had jumped out to the early lead in the game at 4-0 on a bucket by Warley and two free throws from
Alex Ross (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township). After Gannon came back and briefly tool the lead, Bloomsburg got a layup from
Meghan Corridoni (Exeter, Pa./Holy Redeemer) and a 3-pointer from Mack to take a 9-6 lead with 4:35 left in the first period.

Tied at 11-all after one period the Huskies had a strong second quarter taking seven point leads on three different occasions and led 27-21 at the break. Mack led the Huskies with seven points in the frame, including a 3-pointer.

Gannon rebounded in the third period outscoring the Huskies 11-2 in the first four minutes to go on top 32-30 with 5:28 to play. The teams then traded leads the rest of the period with Gannon holding a 38-37 lead after Braungart hit two free throws with 22 seconds to go in the third.

The Golden Knights extended their lead to six points, 45-39, in the first two-and-a-half minutes of the fourth period. But the Huskies rallied and pulled even with Gannon at 48-all with 5:14 to play. Klunk hit a traditional three-point play followed by a layup to make it 45-44. After a three-point play from the Golden Knights, Bloomsburg's
Leah Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) got a bucket and later hit one of two from the foul line to knot the score.

A Myers layup put the Huskies back on top 50-48 with 4:23 to play. Then Montana hit a jumper to put the Huskies up 54-53. After a Gannon miss, Ross tried a 3-pointer, but was off the mark. She did, however, get her own rebound and a fresh shot clock with 34 seconds to play. The Huskies worked the ball to Warley, who was fouled with 21 seconds left. The sophomore made both for a 56-53 lead setting up the wild finish.

For the game Montana had 14 points in just 22 minutes of action, while Mack netted 13 points and had six assists. Warley finished with nine points and had three rebounds.

Gannon, 2-7, 2-2, got 20 points and 12 rebounds from Lanise Saunders and 11 points each from Maggie Mitchell and Nicole LaCava.

Bloomsburg plays at Clarion on Dec. 10 at 1 p.m.
