BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team opened its home season with a 2-1 win over Millersville University on Saturday in front of a large crowd at Steph Pettit Stadium.

The Huskies controlled the pace of play throughout the first half holding an 8-3 edge in shot attempts and a 5-1 edge in shots on goal, but the game stayed scoreless through the first 45 minutes of play. Bloomsburg's best scoring chance came in 21
st minute when
Allie Barber (Pittston Township, Pa./Pittston Area) took a solid shot in front of the net, but Millersville goalie Samantha Wolfe made a diving stop of the attempt to keep it 0-0. Overall, Wolfe made five first half saves.

In the second half the Huskies got on the board in the 48
th minute when
Allie Camp (Beavertown, Pa./Midd-West) directed a pass from the right side of the box to a wide open
Maureen Leis (Erdenheim, Pa./Springfield Township) who put the ball in the left side of the net for a 1-0 lead.

Bloomsburg came back on the attack in the 58
th minute with
Megan Carroll (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) heading the ball to
Allie Barber (Pittston Township, Pa./Pittston Area) who brought the ball under control and drilled a shot to the left corner of the goal for a 2-0 lead.

Millersville cut the lead in half in the 86
th minute when Samantha Ricciardi took a pass from Stacie Hallinan and angled a shot to the left past Bloomsburg's
Devon Haviland (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) who made a diving attempt at a save.

Neither team got a shot on the goal in the final four minutes giving Bloomsburg its first win of the year.

For the game the Huskies outshot the Marauders, 12-5, and held the edge in corner kicks, 6-4.

Bloomsburg goes to 1-1, 1-1 in the PSAC, while Millersville is also now 1-1, 1-1 in the PSAC. The Huskies host Gannon on Sept. 9 at 3:30 p.m.
