GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team dropped a key Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match at Seton Hill by a score of 4-2 on Friday (Oct. 13).
The scoring started in the third minute when Amy Lynch found Emily LoPresti who netted her 10
th of the season to give the Griffins the early lead. The Huskies wouldn't take long to push back offensively, as it was
Jessica Supp (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) lofting one into the box from the far wing.
Allie Barber (Pittston Township, Pa./Pittston Area) deflected it into the back of the net for her second of the season in the 14
th minute. The two teams would battle back and forth until the 39
th minute when Lynch would pick up her second helper of the afternoon on Syaani Harris's seventh of the season. The Griffins took a 2-1 lead to the break.
The Griffins turned up the offensive pressure at the beginning of the second half, earning a corner kick for Emma Bearinger in the 56
th minute. Her service found LoPresti who netted her second of the game and her 11
th of the year to stretch Seton Hill's lead to 3-1. The Huskies would fight back in the coming minutes, as Barber found
Mackenzie Gebhardt (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) for her fifth of the year in the 57
th minute to get Bloomsburg back within one.
In the 76
th minute, the Griffins put the game on ice with a laser from 25 yards out from Madison Schwerzler.
The Huskies out-shot the Griffins 16-7, including 10-5 in shots on goal. BU also held the edge in corner kicks 6-3.
Hannah Miller (El Dorado Hills, Calif./Oak Ridge) registered three shots in the contest, while
Jessica Milligan (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge),
Maggie McDonald (Burke, Va./West Potomac), Supp and Gebhardt each recorded two. Five other Huskies contributed shots in the loss.
Jenna Hawkins (Hamburg, Pa./Fleetwood) made one save between the pipes.
The Huskies are back in action at home on Sunday (Oct. 13) when they battle PSAC contender East Stroudsburg. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m. at Bloomsburg's Steph Pettit Stadium.
