WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team saw its season come to a disappointing end on Tuesday (Oct. 31) in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) quarterfinals where it fell at top-seeded and No. 21 West Chester, 1-0.
Eighth-seeded Bloomsburg (9-6-3, 8-5-3 PSAC) was outshot 4-1 in the first half but was inches away from making its best chance count. Off a corner kick from Natalie Holmes, it was
Erin Bielski (York, Pa./Century (Md.)) who got a head on the ball, only to be inches wide.
The second half was played at a furious pace, and with blustery wind conditions, it was tough for either team to establish possession. However, West Chester did just that in the 76th minute, when Kaitlyn McNamara sent a cross into the box that was headed home by Linzi Wolfe for her second goal of the season. West Chester went on to get the win and advance to the PSAC tournament semifinals.
Allie Barber (Pittston Township, Pa./Pittston Area) recorded one shot on net, while
Jenna Hawkins (Hamburg, Pa./Fleetwood) (8-6-3) made four saves in the contest.
The loss concludes the 2017 women's soccer season.
