BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University wrestling team fell in heartbreaking fashion to the visiting Indiana Hoosiers 19-18 Thursday night (Nov. 16) at Nelson Field House.

The match began with Willy Girard (Williamstown, Pa/Williams Valley) scoring 12-5 decision win at 125 pounds over Elijah Oliver. Andy Schutz (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area) kept the Huskies' momentum going with a 4-0 decision at 133 pounds. Schutz scored the only takedown of the match in the first, and padded his lead with an escape in the second.

Cole Weaver got the Hoosiers on the board and knotted the match at six-apiece with a first period pin of Braden Stahlnecker (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville). Tied at six, that set the stage for Davey Tunon and Ryan Stocku (Media, Pa./Penncrest) at 149 pounds. Tunon started the scoring in the first with a takedown, before Stocku got off a restart whistle for an escape. Tunon held on for the 4-1 decision with riding time.

Kevin Laubach, Jr. brought the Nelson Field House to its feet at 157 pounds, after starting things off with a quick score. Laubach tried to turn Indiana's Austin Holmes once then twice, getting him to his back on the second try. Laubach secured the win by fall at 2:17 of the first to put BU back up 12-9 at the halfway point. At 165 pounds, Bryce Martin defeated Anthony Vetrano (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) 13-4 for a major decision to give Indiana a 13-12 lead. Murphy opened the scoring with a single-leg takedown, before Skatzka escaped and then secured a takedown and nearfall points for a 5-2 lead. A quick sequence moved the match to 8-3, before another sequence of take down and let up moved the match to its final score of 10-6. Trevor Allard (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) injected momentum into the Huskies bench with a thrilling 6-5 decision at 184 pounds. Going to the third, Allard led 2-0. An escape from Norman Conley followed by a takedown by Conley and an Allard escape left the match knotted at three. Allard scored an escape with 30 seconds left, before Conley regained the lead on a takedown near the edge.
