COMPLETE RESULTS

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Bloomsburg University wrestling team competed at the Black Knight Invitational hosted by Army West Point on Sunday (Nov. 19). BU was led by Andy Schutz (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area), who won his bracket at 133 pounds after a perfect 3-0 day. Willy Girard (Williamstown, Pa/Williams Valley) placed sixth at 125 pounds, Anthony Vetrano (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) placed sixth at 165, while Trevor Allard (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) placed fourth at 184 pounds. Bruce Graeber (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) also placed fifth at 285 pounds.

Schutz started off the day defeating Lane Peters of Army in an 8-3 decision, before scoring a 12-9 decision win over Alex Mackall of Rutgers in the semifinals. That set up a final between two Eastern Wrestling League competitors in Schutz and Lock Haven's David Fehlman. Schutz came away with his third straight win by decision, defeating Fehlman 9-2 for the title.

Girard fell in his first match by major decision to Army's Trey Chalifoux by a score of 14-6, before pinning Army's Conner Ziegler in 4:18. In his next match, Girard defeated Lock Haven's Luke Werner by decision 3-1, then lost to Chalifoux again by decision 9-7. That put Girard in the fifth-place match against Josiah Kline, with Kline winning 17-7 by major decision.

Vetrano's day began with a 14-1 major decision loss to Chad Pyke of Chattanooga. He rebounded for a 10-8 win by decision over Binghamton's Jake Einbinder. A loss by fall (2:16) to Binghamton's Vincent DePerez sent Vetrano to the fifth-place match, where he fell to Dominic Perucelli of Chattanooga in an 8-5 decision.

Allard's first match resulted in an 11-3 major decision win over Army's Jeremiah Imonode, before he fell to top-seeded and No. 12 Bryce Carr of Chattanooga by major decision 16-6. The loss put Allard in the third-place match against Lock Haven's Corey Hazel, who defeated Allard by decision 6-5.

Graeber dropped his first match by decision 8-2 to Binghamton's Connor Calkins, before he rebounded to beat Army's Robert Heald by decision 2-0. Chattanooga's Connor Tolley knocked off Graber in a 5-4 decision that sent Graeber to the fifth-place match. He defeated Ralph Normandia of Rutgers by decision 5-4 to take fifth place.

The Huskies will hit the mat again on Sunday (Nov. 26) when they compete at the Mat Town Open hosted by Lock Haven University. The action for that tournament is slated for a 9:00 a.m. start.
