LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University wrestling team placed third with 39 total points at the Mat Town Open on Sunday (Nov. 26) at Lock Haven University.
Trevor Allard (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) (184 pounds) and
Bruce Graeber (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) (285 pounds) each placed second at their weight classes,
Logan Womelsdorf (Benton, Pa./Northwest Area) placed third at 197 pounds and
Anthony Vetrano (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) placed fourth at 165 pounds.
Bloomsburg totaled 10 wins on the day, including six bonus-point victories.
Allard's day began with a 7-5 decision over Princeton's Travis Stefanik, before winning by major decision over Lock Haven's Trey Hartsock 13-3. Allard lost to Nino Bonacorssi of No. 25 Pittsburgh 13-10 in the finals to finish second.
Graeber took care of Kutztown's John Barlow by major decision 10-1 to start the day, before pinning Pitt's Tanner Zagarino in 1:50 and defeating Cole Rickert of Pittsburgh by decision 11-4 to clinch a spot in the championship bout. Graeber lost to Brendan Furman of Finger Lakes Wrestling Prep by decision 7-5 in the finals to finish second.
Womelsdorf dropped his first match of the day to Montoursville's Gavin Hoffman by major decision 15-5, but rebounded to pin Lock Haven's Ray Bernot in 2:03. Womelsdorf collected his second consecutive win by fall in the third-place match when he pinned Virginia's Brian Kennerly in 4:03.
Vetrano began his day with a 4-3 decision over Jaron Chavez of Finger Lakes Wrestling Prep, before falling to the consolation bracket with a 12-4 major decision loss to Jack Mulay of Bucknell. Vetrano rebounded with a win by fall (3:57) over Jake Conners of Franklin and Marshall, before losing to Chavez by fall (1:36) in the third-place match.
Marco Macrino (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex) picked up a win at 133 pounds over Bucknell's Frank Satriale, winning by decision 6-2.
Braden Stahlnecker (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) also earned one win at 141 pounds, defeating Bucknell's Jacob Hubbard by decision 6-0.
The Huskies will open EWL competition on Saturday (Dec. 2) when they travel to George Mason. The action is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m.
