EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team struggled in a 95-68 loss to East Stroudsburg on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Huskies fell to 14-10 overall, and 10-10 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
Even with the loss, the Huskies clinched a spot in the PSAC playoffs, which begin on Feb. 27.
Carnell McGirt (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic (Valley Forge Military Academy)) scored a team-high 16 points on 7-12 FG, and chipped in nine rebounds for Bloomsburg.
Christian Mortellite (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton) (15 points) and
Malik Sneed (Washington, D.C./Spingarn (Prince George's CC)) (13 points and four blocks) were the next biggest contributors for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg shot 43.6% from the field (24-55 FG), but connected on just 22.2% (4-18) of its' three-point attempts.
For East Stroudsburg, Rasheed Moore chipped in a game-high 25 points (10-17 FG) and nine rebounds, while Ryan Krawczeniuk added 14 points.
The Warriors shot 44.7% (38-85 FG) from the field, and hit 10 three-pointers on the afternoon.
The teams traded baskets through the first 12 minutes, as McGirt scored eight of Bloomsburg's first 12 points. A Kyle Michael-Rose layup cut the Warriors' lead to 24-20 with 8:23 remaining in the half, but ESU embarked on a quick, 10-0 run to extend its' lead to 34-20.

Malik Sneed (Washington, D.C./Spingarn (Prince George's CC)) dunk and
Yahmir Greenlee (Philadelphia, Pa./Boys Latin) layup made it 38-28 in favor of the Warriors at the 1:01 mark of the first half, but that would be the last time Bloomsburg would score until the 16:50 mark of the second half.
East Stroudsburg would catch fire and go on a 19-0 run that would give the Warriors a 57-28 lead early in the second half, effectively putting the game out of reach.
Mortellite worked out of first half foul trouble to score 13 of his 15 points in the final 20 minutes, while Sneed and Greenlee would combine for 12 points in the second half.
The Huskies will return home for a contest at the Nelson Field House versus Kutztown on Wednesday, Feb. 22, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
