MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team put together a total team effort, from start to finish, on Wednesday night as it posted a 90-58 victory at Millersville University. Six players finished in double figures for the Huskies, who improved to 13-9 overall and 9-9 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division. The Marauders, meanwhile, dropped to 7-15 overall and 6-12 in league play.
Redshirt junior
Christian Mortellite (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton) led the Huskies with 21 points and, in the process, moved into tenth place on the school's all-time career scoring list with 1,374 career points. He buried four three-pointers on the night to give him 206 for his career and to move him into a tie for third place on the school's all-time list for career triples. Mortellite also had seven rebounds and a career-high seven assists in the victory.
Five others joined Mortellite in double figures. Redshirt freshman
Sam Saxton (York, Pa./Central York (Le Moyne)), who made his first collegiate start, finished with a career-high 14 points - 12 of which came on a career-high four three-pointers. Seniors
Yahmir Greenlee (Philadelphia, Pa./Boys Latin) and
Malik Sneed (Washington, D.C./Spingarn (Prince George's CC)) finished with 13 points apiece while juniors
Kyle-Michael Rose (Middletown, Del./Sanford School (Highland CC)) and
Carnell McGirt (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic (Valley Forge Military Academy)) chipped in 10 points each.
Bloomsburg's other nine points in the game came from senior
Donell Diggs (Washington, D.C./Takoma Academy (Prince George's CC)), who finished with six, and freshman
Jordan Melochick (Port Carbon, Pa./Pottsville), who knocked down a three-pointer in his 19 minutes of action.
The Huskies never trailed in the game as Greenlee put the first points on the board on a layup one minute into the contest. Mortellite knocked down a three-pointer on the team's next possession to put the visitors ahead, 5-0, with 18:25 left in the first half. Bloomsburg got the lead into double digits when Saxton buried a triple with 13:46 left in the opening half to give the Huskies a 16-6 advantage.
Bloomsburg stayed hot and kept the lead in double figures for most of the remainder of the first half. Greenlee finished what he started as he closed out the half with a pair of foul shots to give the Huskies a 42-22 lead as the teams headed to their locker rooms for halftime.

The game was never in any doubt in the second half as Millersville never got closer than 17 points. Mortellite had 11 points and six assists in the second half while McGirt added all 10 of his points on the night in the second half.
Bloomsburg won every major statistical category on Wednesday night en route to the 32-point victory. The Huskies shot 47.8% (32-of-67) from the field and limited the Marauders to just 37.5% (21-of-56) from the field. Bloomsburg also made 10-of-23 (43.5%) from long range while Millersville made only 3-of-22 (13.6%) from deep.
The Huskies also held a 43-28 edge in rebounding and turned the ball over only six times while posting 18 assists. Sneed and McGirt led Bloomsburg with eight rebounds apiece while Mortellite's career-high seven helpers were tops on the team. Millersville, meanwhile, had just three assists on its 21 made field goals and turned the ball over a dozen times.
Cornell Yarde II and Jordan Greene had 16 points apiece for the Marauders.
Bloomsburg will return to action next Wednesday, February 15, when it travels to Mansfield University for a 7:30 p.m. tip against the Mountaineers. The Huskies will be looking for the season sweep as Bloomsburg posted an 86-79 victory over Mansfield at the Nelson Field House on January 11.
