STORYLINE
The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team looks to bounce back from Saturday afternoon's non-conference loss at 19th-ranked Jefferson University when it heads to 14th-ranked California on Tuesday afternoon and Slippery Rock on Wednesday evening. Tuesday's game against the Vulcans will mark the fourth ranked opponent the Huskies have played this season and the second consecutive unbeaten team.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Bloomsburg is 9-16 lifetime against California in the all-time series. Last season, the Huskies dropped a 61-38 home decision against the then-#4 Vulcans. Bloomsburg trailed by only six at halftime before California outscored the Huskies 35-18 in the second half. Shatara Parsons had 27 points, 13 rebounds, five blocks, and four steals in the victory.

The Huskies are 16-11 lifetime against Slippery Rock which includes a 57-52 victory over The Rock at the Nelson Field House last season. Bloomsburg led 50-34 after three quarters before Slippery Rock made things interesting by outscoring the Huskies, 18-7, in the final period. The Rock tied the game at 52-52 before the Huskies scored the final five points with Alyssa Mack (Walnutport, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) hitting a big three-pointer with 39 seconds left. Meghan Corridoni (Exeter, Pa./Holy Redeemer) led Bloomsburg with 19 points and seven rebounds.

SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Bloomsburg dropped one spot and is now ranked tenth in the Atlantic Region according to the latest D2SIDA poll released on Monday morning. Bloomsburg suffered a 56-45 loss at #19 Jefferson in a non-conference game on Saturday. Sophomore Emma Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) led the Huskies with 12 points and was the only player in double figures. Junior Taylor Montana (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) and sophomore Megan Brandt (Lebanon, Pa./Northern Lebanon) each had nine points and six rebounds. The Huskies are averaging 61.6 points per game on the offensive end which is 16th out of 17 teams in the PSAC. However, Bloomsburg is fourth in the PSAC in scoring defense (56.4 ppg). Only IUP (46.0), California (53.6), and Clarion (54.8) have allowed fewer points per game than the Huskies this season. Senior Alyssa Mack (Walnutport, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) leads the team in scoring at 13.9 points per game which puts her in a tie for 22nd in the conference. She has had three 20-point games and has reached double figures in six of the ten contests this season. She is second in the conference in three-point percentage (45.5%) as she has connected on 25-of-55 from beyond the arc this season. Mack is 89 points away from reaching the 1,000-point milestone in her collegiate career. Montana and Saxton are also in double figures this season. Montana averages 11.3 points and 8.1 rebounds which places her in a tie for seventh in the league in rebounding. Saxton averages 10.1 points and is tied for second on the team with 21 assists. She scored a season-high 18 points, including her first three triples of the season, at Mercyhurst on December 8.

SCOUTING CALIFORNIA
California, 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC Western Division, is ranked 14th in the country according to the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 poll. The Vulcans last played on Saturday, December 8, when they defeated Cheyney, 77-36, in a non-conference contest. California jumped out to a 43-13 lead at halftime and forced Cheyney into 37 turnovers in the victory. Seairra Barrett led the Vulcans with 17 points and seven rebounds in 25 minutes. All 14 Vulcans scored at least two points in the win. Barrett has led the team in scoring in seven of the eight games and she averages 25.4 points per game this season which is tied for the league lead. She also pulls down a team-high 8.4 rebounds which is fifth in the league. Gina Vallecorsa is next on the team in scoring at 9.3 points per game and is 13-of-22 (59.1%) from beyond the arc. SCOUTING SLIPPERY ROCK
Slippery Rock, which will play at home against Lock Haven, enters the two-game stretch with a 4-4 overall record and a 2-0 mark in the PSAC West. The Rock have played only twice since November 25 as they knocked off East Stroudsburg (75-68) on the road on December 3 and West Chester (72-69) at home on December 8. Brooke Hinderliter has led Slippery Rock in scoring in seven of its eight games this season and is tops on the team by averaging 19.5 points per game. She is sixth in the PSAC in scoring this season.
